Light house
This project uses some bold moves - reconfiguring the ground floor and moving the staircase, then adding two extensions - to open up this family home to more light, and it’s beautiful mature garden.
The front and rear extensions will be built using a highly insulated timber frame with wood fibre insulation. Super slim sliding doors enhance the visual and physical connection to the garden, while heat-treated ash cladding and decking add warmth and texture alongside crisp render. A cantilevered overhang provides shade, helping to reduce overheating and improve comfort.
A green roof with sedum modules softens the flat roofline, creating a lush outlook from the first-floor bedrooms and drawing the greenery right up to the house. Thoughtfully integrated planters act as architectural features, framing views and bringing layered planting into the design.
